Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has assured members of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Anambra state of victory in the November 18 governorship election.
He pledged to provide whatever it takes for the party unseat the Governor Willie Obiano of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Addressing the South East zonal leaders and executive committee members in Awka, Anambra state, Okorocha who was represented at the meeting by the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Dr Acho Ihim, urged all APC aspirants to remain united and avoid campaign of calumny against themselves.
South East national Vice Chairman of the Party, Hon. Emma Eneukwu, who presided over the meeting appealed to the stakeholders not to mismanage Anambra election by supporting an unpopular aspirant.
“If you mismanage Anambra election, it will affect other states because we see Anambra as a trail blazer and a pace setter in all we do in the South east.
“I therefore charge our governorship aspirants to help us maintain unity in APC, Anambra state through their actions, speeches and campaigns.
“You must shun extremism and campaign of calumny and bitterness in all its forms. We are all aware that any of these represents grave danger to our collective good” he urged.
Eneukwu also assured the aspirants that the party will uphold a level playing field, in line with the party’s constitution and guidelines for the primary election while urging them to be united.
Minister of labour, productivity and employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, in his remarks, commended the aspirants and Jim Nwobodo led Anambra governorship election planning and strategy committee, for their ingenuity in carrying out their assigned duties.
Ngige also assured of free and fair primaries.
“This election will not be easy because we are facing a sitting governor who is strong and chauvinistic in propaganda. I am optimistic that our candidate will emerge through a consensus as was done in 2014 during presidential primaries” he said.
