A former Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has described the N173.980bn 2018 appropriation bill which Governor Rauf Aregbesola presented to the House of Assembly as a ruse.
Omisore, who is also a former deputy governor of the state said this in an interview with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday while distributing food items to some widows and pensioners in the state.
The former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party said the budget had no clear means of financing it, saying it was a bogus estimate.
According to him, the hardship imposed on the people by the All Progressives Congress would be over in 2018, saying the PDP would immediately find solutions to all the problems confronting the people.
Omisore said, “For a state that announced it could only implement only 50 per cent of the 2017 budget, this is another bogus estimate with no clear means of financing it, it is nothing, but a ruse.
“What is the big deal in Osun’s 2018 budget when the cost of uncompleted projects in the state is as huge as N500bn? How relevant are these budgets to the well being of Osun people?
“Answers to all these budget are evident on the faces of Osun people. There is hunger in the land. Pension and salaries are not being paid. But all these will be addressed when we make right choice through our votes in 2018 and 2019.”
He said Nigerians had seen the best of the ruling APC in the state, and at the feudal level, saying there best had plunged the people into abject penury but he gave an assurance that the PDP would come out stronger in 2018 to rescue the people from further hardship.
Omisore called on the wealthy Nigerians to always remember the poor in the society in order to give them hope and make the nation peaceful. He said with some acts of kindness, some of those who engage in criminal activities would not have ventured into such.
